As the two conferences share the same facility and one occurs immediately before the other, a decision was made to manage all registrations through a single site. A login is more than a simple means to register attendance at the conferences.
Through the login we are intending to make abstract submission easier. Presenters will be able to submit abstracts without entering redundant information, such as mailing and email addresses. Co-authors may be added simply by specifying their email addresses and all the information will be input automatically if they have a login established. We will be able to inform presenters of the status of their submissions via the website through their individual logins.
Travel to conferences can often be confusing and difficult if the conferee is unfamiliar with the options for travel. We have set up a facility to collect conferee flight arrival and departure information at San Francisco, Oakland, and Santa Rosa airports. When we know what time conferees are scheduled to arrive we can coordinate transporation to and from the conference site. There is a direct bus service from the airports to the Doubletree Hotel Sonoma Wine Country. Collection of this information will make the transfer to the bus service more direct and much simpler for the conferees.
In addition to registration payment for the conference through the login facility, conferees will be able to sign up for the various excursions on Wednesday afternoon of the ICAVS meeting. We have several excursions being finalized. There may be opportunities to go to Santa Rosa for dinner one or more evenings, and Santa Rosa has a large number of interesting good restaurants. We are coordinating reservations at various establishments. Menus will be available on-line, and conferees can book restaurants directly from the website. As Santa Rosa is approximately 15 km (8 miles) from the conference site, we shall provide transporation to and from Santa Rosa. Reservations are requested as many of the restaurants are very popular and local residents and tourists may fill the restaurants. Some of the restaurants have suggested prix-fixe menus for conferees.
Please note: We will not sell the login information or give it to any other parties, other than what is necessary for the conference. In keeping with the practice of previous conferences in these series we intend to give the respective lists of conferees to the organizers of ICAVS-7 and 2DCOS-7. We will not provide information about anyone who created a login and did not attend one of the conferences. Of course, anyone may ask to be removed from the list for the next conference.
