In order to submit an abstract you must have a login for the Conference (ICAVS-6) or the Satellite Meeting (2DCOS-6). Abstracts will be linked to your login where you will be able to see the acceptance status of the abstract and you will have the option the edit or withdraw abstracts.
The deadline for abstract submission is April 1, 2011.
Co-authors need not have a login with the system, however, if co-authors have logins then their address information will be transferred automatically to the address fields. Email addresses are used as the key to addresses and the database. If it is necessary to alter co-author address information for the abstract that can be accomplished on the submission form. Alterations to addresses for co-authors will not affect the database.
There is a link to the Abstract Submission facility at the bottom of this page. There is also an Abstract Submission How-To to explain the steps in the submission process.
Email confirmation: When an abstract is submitted, withdrawn, or its status is changed, the authors will receive emails. It is important the email addresses of all the authors are accurate.
Oral presentations may be requested by full conferees, but not by students. All student presentations will be posters. Oral presentations will be selected by the Program Committee. Abstracts will be reviewed and requested oral presentations will be given oral time slots if the presentations fit into the oral sessions. The oral sessions will generally be devoted to subjects or themes. These sessions will be coordinated with invited presentations. If an abstract is not accepted for an oral presentation it will be designated as a poster presentation.
In past conferences there have been parallel sessions for oral presentations. There has been considerable controversy about this practice, with strong proponents on both sides of the argument. We anticipate some parallel sessions where the topics are widely different to avoid participants missing talks of particular interest to them. We have expanded the time and space for poster presentations. ICAVS is an extension of earlier conferences, and this practice is not unknown. In fact, at one time there were no contributed oral presentations. All contributed work was presented as posters and the only oral presentations were Plenary Lectures.
It is the goal of the Conference to recognize young promising scientists and give them the opportunity to present their work to the general community of vibrational spectroscopists. A total of eight student poster presentations will be selected for short oral presentations during the conference. Five posters from the Monday and Tuesday student poster presentations will be selected for oral presentations on Wednesday, and three student poster presntations will be selected for oral talks on Friday. The Program Committee will make the selections based upon the poster presentations at the Conference and on the student explanations of their work. Consequently, students should be prepared to present a ten-minute talk (with PowerPoint slides) on their poster.
This site accepts abstracts for both ICAVS-6 and the Satellite Meeting, 2DCOS-6. It is necessary to identify the Conference or meeting with the abstract. A drop-down box allows you to select the appropriate venue for the presentation.
