As the weather during June is warm with an average daily high temperature of 27°C (80°F) and low temperature of 11°C (52°F). We recommend light clothing. A bathing suit is recommended if you wish to swim in the hotel swimming pool and a comfortable pair of shoes is a must! There is no ocean swimming; the Pacific Ocean is some distance away, about 45 minutes by car, but the water is very cold and the currents are dangerous. Bring a light jacket or sweater as the evenings can be cool with breezes off the Pacific.
All supplies are 110/120 volts, 60Hz AC. The plugs have 2 flat pins with an optional 3rd round pin.
All foreign visitors entering the United States must hold valid passports. Many nationalities do not need a visa to enter the U.S. However, please consult your travel agent or local U.S. embassies and consulates for more details.
Information on the US Visa Waiver Program and the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) may be found at http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/without/without_1990.html
There is a total of 36 countries that participate in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). A list of VWP countries is available. There has recently been an increase in applications from China, India, Brazil, the Phillipines, Russia, and Egypt, all of which are not in the VWP. It is suggested that visa applications be made at least 3 months in advance for all non-VWP nationals, and most importantly for the countries with increased applications.
A general FAQ about US visa questions may be found at http://travel.state.gov/visa/questions/questions_1253.html
Specific questions about visas may be emailed to USvisa@state.gov or by telephoning +1-202-663-1225. As conference organizers we hold little sway over the US government, but if you run into trouble, please email us at icavs6@icavs6.org and we shall try to help.
