Airport to the Doubletree Hotel

San Francisco Airport

Airport Express, Inc. has regular buses that run every hour on the half hour from San Francisco International Airport to the Doubletree Hotel Sonoma Wine Country.  Regular service begins at 5:30 a.m. and the last bus leaves the airport at 12:30 a.m.  The average travel time is 1 hour and 45 minutes and the buses deliver conferees directly to the hotel door.  The buses are very comfortable and have wifi service the entire trip.

At the San Francisco Airport simply look for the signs that say "Airporters." As shown in the image to the right these signs are often found above exit doors on the baggage claim level.  They will direct you to the appropriate door for the airport buses and limosines.

Once you exit the door go to the pedestrian island indicated by the signs.  On one of the pillars you will find a sign labeled "Airporters." It is here that the bus will stop.  Be aware that the buses have to stop at all terminals and may arrive shortly before or after the alloted departure time.

Look for the Airport Express bus.  The drivers are very courteous and will load your luggage in the compartments under the bus.  Be sure to tell the driver that you are traveling to the Doubletree Hotel in Rohnert Park.  The bus does not stop at other hotels in the area.  The only other stops are the fairgrounds in Petaluma and a couple of stops in Santa Rosa.  These other destinations are more than 10 km from the hotel.  If you are staying somewhere else in Rohnert Park you will have to call a taxi from the hotel.

If you are traveling during daylight hours you will be able to see some sites along the way.  After the bus leaves the airport it usually travels through the city of San Francisco.  The freeway was destroyed by the last earthquake and traffic goes along city streets.  As you leave San Francisco the bus crosses the Golden Gate Bridge.  To your right you can see San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz Island.  The bridge is not "Golden."  Its name comes from the flowers on the north side that color the hills golden at some times of the year.  Hence the bridge is the gate to the golden hills.  As you travel north you will pass marinas, farmland, and vineyards.

Oakland Airport

The main difference coming from Oakland is that the buses do not go through San Francisco as the airport is north of the city.  The buses depart every two hours at fifteen minutes past the hour.  The first bus is at 5:15 a.m. and the last at 9:15 p.m.  The travel time to the hotel is two hours.

Fares

The standard fare is USD 34 one-way.  We have vouchers that reduce the price to USD 26.  They may be downloaded here, and must be printed to hand to the cashier on the bus when it stops at Petaluma.  We will be selling return trip tickets at the Conference and will accept credit cards as well as cash.

Payment must be made on the bus from the airport in cash or by a check from a U.S. bank.  Be sure to get cash before you leave the airport.  There are cash machines in the airport, most of which are on the ticketing level.

Schedules

The bus timetables may be found on the Airport Express website.  On the homepage there are links to the schedules.  Most people will need the SFO to Sonoma County link.

We will be collecting travel information on this website.  Details will be announced as soon as that is ready.  If we have enough people traveling at the same time we shall charter a bus.
